ROBERT J. PEARL, D.O.
Knowing he wanted to become a doctor since before high school, Dr. Pearl set out on a path none others in his family had taken. It was with a strong background in mathematics and computers, he entered the University of Kansas intent on pursuing a major in chemistry while fulfilling the basic requirements necessary to apply to medical school. It was there that he took his first formal class in the biological sciences and from that point on, he was compelled to take more and more courses in biology, focusing less on the physical sciences like chemistry and physics. There were two constants: math and the ultimate goal – medicine. He graduated with honors from KU with a B.S. in Molecular Biology. From there, he entered the Graduate School at St. Louis University. He studied reproductive physiology and received his M.S. in just fourteen months.
He went on to medical school with a fervor for holistic studies by attending the first and original school of Osteopathic medicine now known as the A.T. Still University with campuses in both Arizona and Missouri. Upon receiving his D.O. degree, moved on to internship which spanned numerous specialties including internal medicine, orthopedics, radiology, cardiology, pathology, gastroenterology and pulmonology. Following these specialties which focused on human diseases, he had a rotation in obstetrics & gynecology and saw his first live birth. His interest in reproductive sciences from years past was rekindled – he knew that was how he wanted to devote his years of study – to bring life into the world! The OBGYN residency was entered which included studies at Washington University School of Medicine, St. John’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO as well as several community hospitals.
Dr. Pearl has been fortunate to be in private practice for over thirty years. During that time he has built his practice and been able to follow his patients throughout their lives. He has been Chairman of the OBGYN Department for two different terms and on the Medical Staff of his hospital he has been Secretary-Treasurer and also Member at Large for two different terms. He has also became a board certified in Operative Laparoscopy more commonly known as Minimally Invasive Surgery. He also continues his board certification in OBGYN. He also has served as Program Director of the hospital’s OBGYN Residency program for five years.
During his time off from the office and patient care, his interests include technology – both in electronics and in the medical field and spends a lot of time in the gym. Most of all, he enjoys and cherishes his time with his grandchildren. When asked what gives him joy, its his family – “…they always lift my spirit and make me smile…..I am very lucky and very proud of all of them!”
